Large dust collection system installed in new Sydney based state-of-the-art pharmaceutical plant.
When it comes to manufacturing pharmaceuticals, it is important to keep in mind the health and safety risks involved in the process. For its workers, it is important to minimise their long term exposure to active pharmaceutical ingredients. For the products, there is the need to minimise any chance of cross contamination.
Along with these considerations, there was also the consideration of energy consumption, as many companies are now seeking to lower their carbon footprint, there is a need for more efficient designs when it comes to the systems that are installed.
When the new manufacturing plant was set up, these factors were kept in mind when they installed the Polex MDC, which uses two EXE 11.0kW and one 7.5kW centrifugal high efficiency fans. This dust collection system has nearly 60 pick up/collection points at the new plant. The powerful, yet energy efficent fans provide 40% more performance than older style centrifugal fans. The MDC is also continuously clean while in operation with a pulse of compressed air, this keeps the dust collector running at maximum efficiency at all times.
Three Variable Speed Drives were fitted into the control panel, controlled by a pressure transducer, which signals the VSD to automatically adjust the power consumption of the fans when connected machines are switched on or off. This and the high efficiency fans helps reduce the overall energy consumption for the system, which also means lower running costs for the company.
