Last month, Matthews Australasia sold its 1,000th FOX IV Label Printer Applicator (LPA) in the Australian Market.
Rick Fox, president and CEO of FOX IV Technologies Inc., welcomed the milestone sale, which culminates from the strong relationship between FOX IV, Matthews and the Australian Packaging Industry.
"Matthews Australasia is without question our best distributor — worldwide," Fox said.
"They have achieved this milestone primarily because of their ability to design solutions that work in demanding production environments, provide value add to customers by understanding their labelling requirements as well as business requirements and their people.
"We could manufacture the best products in the world, but we would not be successful if we didn't have distributors with the technical skills and the customer focus that Matthews provides in Australia," said Fox, who is currently in Australia attending Auspack Plus 2013.
Lester Nichol, Matthews' managing director, said: "This sale highlights Matthews' large installed base, which is due to being able to deliver industry-leading integrated solutions and our strong commitment to providing exceptional support and after-sales service."
The 1,000th unit is on display at Auspack, and will be part of a solution that Matthews designed to fit a well known snackfood line.
And therein lies two of the company's key strengths, according to Nichol.
"Matthews specialises in tailored end-to-end identification solutions. Our access to world-leading technology and brands is backed by our ability to design and implement system integrated and turnkey solutions in-house," Nichol said.
Despite their technological respect for each other, a shared history is another reason for the strong relationship between FOX IV and Matthews Australasia.
Rick Fox began FOX IV 17 years ago. Having been a manager with Matthews International (based in Pittsburgh, USA) for 20 years, he then bought the company's symbol and labelling division.
"So the relationship didn't just begin in 1996...in reality, because of our previous history with Matthews International, Matthews Australasia and FOX IV have 'grown up together'," Nichol said.
FOX IV LPA systems are typically used in carton-labelling applications — both single and double sided (adjacent or opposite) — as well as compliant SSCC pallet labelling. All these solutions can be integrated with iDSnet software for automated carton or pallet labelling.
Nichol said: "FOX IV is known internationally for innovative designs and customised solutions. Most LPA builders only concentrate on manufacturing systems, and then sell them out to distribution; however, FOX IV also provide system integration — and this is another point that links us. It also makes FOX IV unique."
