For seam welding of metal sheets, the short running-in period of lasers with sweet spot resonators is an unbeatable advantage: the beam quality and hence the welding quality are the same both for single shot and for a higher repetition rate at identical pulse parameters which makes process development easier. The high pulse-to-pulse stability provides maximum process reliability which is particularly important for applications not allowing any variations in quality whatsoever as e. g. with medical instruments and implants.
Quite a number of further applications such as aluminum welding or sealed membrane welding of pressure sensors benefit from twice the power of the sweet spot generation technology, variable pulse shaping and extremely precisely adjustable parameters. Additionally, 200 W power enhances throughput in serial production. Another edge of the sweet spot technology is high effectiveness. This technology allows to produce 200 W with one single lamp using a new generation of lamps with considerably longer life time. For maintenance, only one lamp has to be replaced and thus operating costs are reduced in comparison to the commonly used two lamp resonators in this laser class.
The sweet spot resonator - already integrated in the new Integral
The new Integral provides 200 W laser power with all benefits of the new sweet spot generation - combined with the innovative concept of manual welding laser of ROFIN's Select: the system is - just by a switch - an ergonomically optimized manual welding laser, joystick controlled deposit welding system or high-precision CNC system, a unique innovative welding concept. The large working chamber provides space for parts with up to 500 mm width. The xy table with z axis moves workpieces weighing up to 500 kg with utmost precision in all three dimensions. The patented optical system which can be swivelled around two axes allows to process also vertical surfaces, undercuts or deep grooves without swivelling or tilting the workpiece. All these facts make the Integral very much qualified for practically all laser welding applications in precision engineering, electronics, thin sheet processing or even in the tool and mold industry.
