It ensures the seals have been made completely, allowing the manufacturer to be confident about the shelf life and integrity of his product, and offering a system of quality traceability.
Many products need to be checked to ensure that the package is sealed against moisture, oxygen or biological contamination. Recent developments in food packaging use a Modified Atmosphere to extend the shelf life, and have heightened the need to check that the atmosphere can not escape due to poor seals.
Designed to cope with a wide range of package shapes, sizes and flexibility, the SealTick TSE 6086 Leak Tester for Flexible Packaging focuses on simplicity and speed of use.
It avoids the complications of placing packs into a water bath, and the issues of potential contamination that might arise from an uncontrolled source.
It is quick, dry and objective, and packs can be put straight back on the packing line.
The stainless steel construction makes it ideal for use in a production environment.
Requiring only air and power, the instrument is switched on, the door is opened and it is ready to test. The pack is placed into the enclosure, the handle is closed, and within a few seconds the panel indicates whether it is leaking. Repeated tests are performed by opening and closing the handle. A quantitative result is written to the internal log, for later retrieval as part of the quality traceability. Different products can be identified in the log by selecting an ID code from the panel.
The SealTick TSE 6086 is already in use around the world for testing a wide range of foods and medical products. Depending on the packing line speed it can be used to check 100% of production, selected samples, or allows the operator to check the seal integrity after changes to the film, product, or adjustments on the packaging machine.
