Australian Industrial Design consultancy, Design + Industry, wins Gold at the prestigious Industrial Design Excellence Awards in California.
The Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEAs) is an annual global design competition sponsored by Business Week and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The aim of the IDEAs is to promote public and industry understanding of the importance of industrial design excellence to the quality of life and the economy.
Winning the IDEA is a mark of distinction in business, among peers, among clients and consumers. 2004 was the first year that competition entry was open to all designs and designers worldwide, making the competition tougher than ever and the distinction more prestigious.
This year the jury awarded a total of 130 awards selected from more than 1,294 entries. The Intelect Advanced & Mobile Electrotherapy Range, designed by Design + Industry for the Chattanooga Group in Tennessee, was presented with the highest award in the Medical & Scientific Equipment category, the Gold IDEA.
The innovative Intelect Advanced and Intelect Mobile range marks a quantum development on standards previously set in this product category. The range combines an array of modalities in one operating system; offers improved operating efficiency; and is cost effective in manufacture.
Since the release of the Intelect range late 2003, global electrotherapy sales for all of Chattanooga Group have increased by 15%. The commercial success of this project proves that working relationships between the United States and Australia can result in a highly efficient product development cycle.
The Chattanooga Group are delighted by the service and attention to detail provided by D+I during the development of this project, and have desicribed D+I’s integration with their in-house team as seamless.
D+I’s Murray Hunter and Brad Ryan recently traveled to Pasadena, CA, where they attended the IDEA ceremony held on Saturday, October 30th and the IDSA National Conference.
