A coal mine approached Custom Fluidpower for assistance with a power unit for underground use.
The customer needed to operate a remote pneumatic directional control valve to raise and lower roof chock cylinders that will be used for maintenance.
This required a hydraulic and pneumatic power unit which adhered to DPI and MDG requirements in regards to coal mines.
Limitations such as 80psi max inlet pressure for pneumatics, 400+ bar pressure, and 50-70PLM flow were in place.
Custom Fluidpower needed a Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments to be completed as well as a manual and maintenance schedule.
Custom Fluidpower successfully supplied a power unit to meet the customer's requirements including the use of a pneumatic directional control valve which is low pressure for safety reasons.
