With the PowerStore you can reduce the impact of current traction systems on power supplies through the installation of PowerStore units only at terminals and other frequent stopping locations.
The PowerStore will reduce the peak demand and transmission costs of starting locomotives / trucks by supplying power to the traction network at the point it is needed.
Another advantage of the PowerStore is that it can also reduce the peak regeneration and transmission costs of stopping locomotives / trucks by absorbing power from the traction network at the point it is generated.
The PowerStore also gives you the option for augmentation of insufficient power supplies to allow new electrification of mines and / or locomotives.
The PowerStore can be used to stabilise isolated gas generation at the power station and to reduce the effects of machines stopping and starting on the traction power system, before it gets to the rest of the power system.
Due to PowerStores containerised design it leads to lower cost of installation at remote locations.
As the PowerStore connects to the supply AC side, it is traction technology independent. The PowerStore will work with any of the following.
1. DC traction systems
2. AC traction systems
5. Double phase transformers
With PowerStore's connection to the supply side of the Traction Sub-Station, it allows for a convenient monitoring connection to;
1. Connect to incoming AC

Powercorp Operations | Solar & Wind Diesel Power Systems
Powercorp was formed in 1988 in Darwin, Australia, to automate the wide variety of diesel generator power stations in Northern Australia for the Power and Water Authority.
This program encompassed some 80 communities and work has extended throughout Australia and internationally.
With the success of the automation program came the need to integrate renewable energy for fuel saving.
This work and the demand side management capability of the control system led to advanced wind diesel systems in Western Australia for Western Power Corporation.
With the winning of a Showcase grant from the Federal Government Powercorp pioneered high penetration wind diesel systems during the late 90’s.
Powercorp developed expertise in inverter technology with specialization in high speed bi- directional control to solve the grid instability problem.
With these solutions now a commercial reality Powercorp stands as the most advanced high penetration renewable energy company in the world.
This work is expanding to encompass mine sites and industrial complexes.
The company is largely research engineering based with strong capability in electrical network stabilisation and generation plant control.
It stands ready to serve any customer with grid instability problems or requiring high penetration renewable energy generation.
