Proform benchtop manufacturing with Gorbel Cranes

Supplier: Safetech
28 November, 2011

Proform Tops and Laminates North owned by the Bates Family was established in Cairns in 1991 to manufacture kitchens.

The Problem:

PROFORM have a large kitchen showroom that has become a valuable resource for the Far North consumers - builders, cabinet makers, designers and retailers alike. Recognised as the leading manufacturer of postformed benchtops in the Far North PROFORM acknowledged the need to move forward and introduce a solid surface product.

Traditionally 12mm, our vision to supply an inmproved product that the Cabinet Maker could manufacture led to Veinte - a 20mm 100% acrylic. To achieve the best production results PROFORM had to establish a workshop suitable to manufacture engineered stone.
To maximise efficiency and reduce manual handling we have installed a Gorbal Gantry Crane.
The crane selected combined work cell coverage with ease of movement.
Safetech’s engineers worked with PROFORM to ensure that the crane delivered maximum floor coverage

"This crane has made it extremely easy and cost effective to move the sheets of stone and acrylic around the working and machining area," sayd Geoff Bates, Managing Director, PROFORM Tops.

"Safetech were very supportive from the design stage of the gantry through to the delivered product that we assembled and installed ourselves without any problems. In our opinion this system would be an asset to any workshop," said Bates.
PROFORM aim to supply their customers with the very best in benchtop laminates. To do this consistently requires excellent quality control, high productivity and safe worker friendly manufacturing processes. Since the crane was installed, injuries and worker fatigue are no longer concerns. Productivity has increased as has worker morale.
