Henrob have launched a rivet repair tool for car and truck repair shops. The rivlite Mk4 is capable of removing self piercing rivets then re-setting new rivets into the new panels. Trials of the tool in Europe and North America have been very successful on aluminium and steel bodied cars and trucks.
Many new model vehicles are being introduced to the market with aluminium panels that are riveted and glued together with self pierce rivets. The tool allows panels to be un-riveted using a set of punch out tooling. The tooling is then changed to allow new rivets to be set.
The tool produces a force of up to 5 tonnes allowing the full range of Henrob rivets to be set. Kits containing tooling, rivets and C frames of different throat reaches can be assembled for different types of vehicle repair. See video footage of rivet removal and rivet setting.
Similar portable tools for light duty production activities are also being developed and trialled in the market place. Please contact Ian Reed to discuss your specific needs.
