Management of this large financial institution owned shopping centre in Launceston CBD identified a slip and fall risk at the shop entrance area.

The area in question was also unappealing aesthetically and management required a solution for both issues.

Global Safe Technologies Tasmania was called to assist with the assessment of the situation and to provide management with a long term, cost effective, sustainable solution.

The company’s representative attended the site and suggested two solutions:

  • For the entire area, application of the Safe Tile - previously known as Safe Solution - micro etching treatment which will increase the surface slip resistance and at the same time cleans up the surface.
  • For the CottonOn shop entrance, due to the heavy traffic, the floor safety representative proposed the Safe Grip cold fusion anti slip strips be installed, due to its proven very hard wearing, excellent bonding to various surfaces and long lasting slip resistance which will ensure that the solution will solve the issue for the years to come.

As the shopping centre operates 7 days a week the earliest opportunity presented itself at the Easter long weekend, specifically Good Friday.

The work was carried out on that day and on Saturday, when the staff and shoppers came they were presented with a safe and totally rejuvenated entrance area to the shop.

Building and the shop management has very positively commented on the workmanship and aesthetical appearance of the anti slip surfaced area. They were also very satisfied that the work was carried out without causing any interruption to the shopping centre normal operations.

Management also appreciated the Global Safe approach of not only providing the floor safety solution, but backing it up with a long term warranty as well as with an ongoing risk management program at no additional cost** to them.

This risk management program which is called Surface Safety Risk Management Program or SSRMP, includes site specific cleaning staff training as well as regular inspections and reporting of the surface condition.

The SSRMP will assist ensuring that the entrance area will remain safe for all people using now and in the future.
