Boss Surveillance Systems, a division of Smart IT Pty Ltd, is recognised as one of Australia's first IT Managed Services Provider (MSP), also providing true IP-digital surveillance systems.
"It was a natural progression to introduce this technology into Smart IT as we have the IT expertise and necessary network engineering skill that is required to manage and deploy professional IP surveillance systems," Anthony Levitt, managing director of Smart IT said.
"We place a strong emphasis on quality and high performance, which is why we supply and support AXIS Communications and Mobotix high definition and high resolution cameras, along with Milestone Systems for video management software (VMS). These make up the key components of our solutions."
The simplicity is having cameras connected directly onto the existing network. Live camera feeds can then be accessed over a secure Internet connection from any location, and from anywhere in the world.
The technology in place today, makes it simple and easy to view footage in real-time, replay recordings, and check for alerts from any computer, laptop or other portable devices with a wired or wireless internet connection.
"Your video surveillance system simply becomes another part of your IT infrastructure, allowing you to leverage costs of existing equipment such as network servers, storage, switches and cabling and this therefore lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO)," Levitt said.
"By using powerful software like Milestone Systems XProtect products to monitor and manage video, it easily allows additional cameras to be added over time.
"The scalability of your surveillance system as your organisation grows means that your ROI is realised much sooner.
"It's the hidden benefits that clients get excited about, such as being able to view multiple locations of cameras in real-time, using a device such as an iPad, being able to move, rotate and zoom in for detail when using a PTZ camera, and addressing issues immediately which ultimately helps in loss-prevention."
Boss Surveillance Systems provides the whole solution, says Levitt.
"We not only supply the cameras and IT equipment, but we also assist customers with the design and configuration of camera locations, install the components and provide ongoing managed support and hosted services."
Stu Richardson, licensee of the Telstra Store Toowong, in Brisbane, commissioned Boss Surveillance Systems to provide and install a variety of digital cameras in his store.
Having already researched costs in analogue systems from other suppliers, although in the interim were cheaper, he said it was far more logical to go with a digital IP-based system that provides high quality images and flexibility.
"The solution has provided me with easy and instant access to monitor both customers and staff, with the added benefit of managing the recording myself from either my office or home," Richardson said.
"I have four cameras that cover the entire store, a mix of AXIS and Mobotix, and because they are digital, rather than analogue, it means the bandwidth has been reduced to allow remote viewing simultaneously from two separate locations.
"The simplicity of Milestone XProtect Essentials is that I can add more cameras when needed, and is easily upgradeable to other versions."
Using Milestone also allows greater archiving capabilities and storage reliability; surveillance videos can be transferred through the network to off-site storage just like any other data and the recordings can be stored on standard servers.
Boss Surveillance Systems holds an ASIAL Corporate Membership and provides sales and support.
