CMO COMPLIANCE, the Cost Reduction System, can be deployed for Defect Management on construction sites or other projects where defects need to be managed efficiently.

The defect management system works on a internet/intranet platform and a Pocket PC handheld device.

In this manner, the process of managing the close out of defects is optimised as projects near practical completion.

The Defect Management System is extremely powerful, yet simple to use and delivers tangible value in reducing the risk of spiralling costs and delays from the poor management of defects.

The Defect Management System utilises a relational work or site structure to ensure the inspection process is comprehensive, with no items missed.

The audit list can be downloaded from a web or intranet based management system to a handheld device which can then be used on site by inspectors to record the results of their inspection.

This handheld device enables both items passed and defects to be recorded as required. On the handheld device, the details of the defects are captured, and responsible contractors can also be assigned to rectify the defect.

Time and date stamped digital photos can be taken from the handheld device, and associate to the particular defect, as well as rectifications cost being estimated.

Then from either onsite if a wireless internet connection is available (via GPRS / Wifi / Wimax / IBurst / 3G), or on returning to the office, the defect list and other inspection results are uploaded to the web or intranet based management system, with email, fax or SMS alerts being sent automatically to the relevant contractors, according to their trade.

The contractor can then login and update the Defect Register, with email, fax or SMS alerts being sent to the inspector to provide a prompt to re inspect the site.

In this manner, the current paper based, or excel sheet, method of managing defects is revolutionised, saving significant amounts of time and money.

In addition, the estimated cost of rectifying defects before and after practical completion is available at the touch of a button.
