When used in a soldier’s radio for example, the soldier’s movement could accidentally cause the SMA nut to loosen and the connection between the radio & the antenna to be lost. The solution was to add a locking nut on the back of the SMA plug and a coding on the receptacle to prevent this accidental disconnection. No tool is required to connect the SMA cable to the radio. Both coupling nut and locking nut are knurled and can easily be tightened by hand. The counter clockwise locking nut locks itself on the edge of the coupling nut.
This simple, robust and cost effective design has been successfully tested in the field.
The SMA lock connector is suitable for military applications to interconnect portable devices and antennas. Features and benefits:
- Small size
- Stainless steel, corrosion resistant
- Tool-less design
- Secure connection insensitive to cable movement, flexure, stress and vibration
