Motion control applications often require gear reduction to increase motor torque, decrease speed and match load inertia to the motor. The 'TR' gearheads are high precision, low backlash, high efficiency, planetary gearheads which are designed to mount directly onto the flanges of a large variety of stepper and servomotors.

This enables a very high reduction ratio to be achieved in a very small space. Seven basic sizes are manufactured in 1, 2 or 3 stages providing ratios ranging from 3:1 to 1000:1. All models are rated at IP65 protection.

The standard backlash is 15 arcminutes making them ideal for precise motion control applications, such as XY tables. If necessary, lower backlash ratings of 10, 5 and 3 arcminutes can also be supplied. High efficiency planetary design (around 90 - 96%) means smaller motors can be used without having to overcome high friction loads.

The basic model is the MP which uses an adapter plate to fit onto a motor flange. Two other models are also available, the MP-IS with input shaft and the MP-G with right angle mounting.

The gearhead is fitted to the motor flange using an adapter plate and a shaft pinion with clamp. There is no need to drill or machine mounting brackets or couplings.

TR manufacture adapter plates to allow fitting of gearheads to a wide range of motors on the market. These include all NEMA standard stepper motors and numerous brushed and brushless servomotors.
