A flexible and economical method for excavation of shafts with large cross-sections is to make a pilot raise with the Alimak Raise Climber and then enlarge it to final size using Alimak suspended platforms and electric winches.
The method provides a safe and good working environment and minimises overbreak.
The Alimak EPG winches carrying the platform are remote controlled and electrically synchronised. The biggest shaft enlarging platform delivered so far had a diameter of 23 m.
Alimak EPG winches are available with capacities between 2–4 tons. If higher capacities are required, several winches can be combined and are always able to ensure horizontal platform position.
