Venturi Aeration systems are revolutionising lagoon aeration, and now available in Australia. More efficient aeration, and safer for operators, Venturi Aerators are bank mounted and work brilliantly when paired with Gorman Rupp Self Priming Pumps.
The Venturi Aerator features a simple, yet efficient design for many modern applications. Whether you need a complete replacement to your existing aerator or an enhancement to your existing operation, the Venturi Aerator offers an innovative and convenient approach to your aeration needs.
Increase levels of Dissolved Oxygen
Reduction in Chemical Oxygen Demand
These aeration units are used in conjunction with Gorman-Rupp self priming centrifugal pumps to deliver solutions with the following advantages:
Simple, uncomplicated design
Easy to install
Efficient - see results FAST!
Easy to maintain - bank mounted equipment eliminates a lot of safety risks
Low cost of ownership
Safer for operators - lesson your WHS load - remove the need for cranes, confined spaces, row boats, water safety
Simple, Uncomplicated Design
When Venturi Aerators are used with Gorman-Rupp pumps, there is no need for pontoons, walkways, intricate retrieval systems, or special sumps. Pumps and Aeration system are mounted on simple concrete plinths on the side of lagoons or on the side of tanks.
Easy to Install
Because they are mounted on lagoon banks, most of the installation work is done outside of the lagoon.
The Venturi Aeration system is the most efficient use of energy to transferring oxygen. The following are Actual O2 Transfer Ratings [AOTR’s] for various mechanical aeration devices in kg/kW/hr:-
Venturi Aerator 65 - 1.85
Surface aerator w/draft tube 73 - 1.27
Surface high speed 73 - 1.21
Submerged turbine 61 - 1.21
Submerged turbine/sparger 73 - 1.09
Surface brush and blade 48 - 1.09
Easy to Maintain
Because all the mechanical equipment is located outside of lagoons or tanks, pumps and the Venturi Aerator are easily accessed for maintenance. No need for boats to get to the equipment, or long and expensive walkways, or for long cable and winch systems to drag pontoons in.
Gorman-Rupp pumps are the easiest pumps to maintain, and the Venturi Aerator has no moving parts, and just a few bolts to access liner or nozzle.
Low cost of Ownership
Because Venturi Aeration systems are on the “bank”, there is no requirement for cranes, multiple operators using boats or winches and no need to remove equipment from service. One operator can perform routing [or major] maintenance events with basic hand tools in minutes, not hours. This has a tremendous effect on the “bottom line” when extrapolated over years of service.
Safe for Operators
Operators do not need to row in boats to a Venturi Aeration system and they don’t have to walk across narrow planks to “board” their aeration system. The work does not need to be done in the middle of a lagoon. Operators can safely access a Venturi Aerator and its pump.
Venturi Aeration systems are now available in Australia through Hydro Innovations
The Venturi Aerator is a static device that is installed immediately downstream of a pump. The pumped fluid is forced into the Venturi Aerator, where a specially designed and machined nozzle produces a venturi effect, enabling atmospheric air to be drawn into the system and mixed with the pumped fluid. The aerated fluid is then pumped back into the lagoon or basin the water was drawn from.
When used with self priming pumps, the system can me mounted on the banks of lagoons, making them safer, cheaper and easier to maintain than other systems. Hydro Innovations is in the unique situation of being able to supply the Venturi Aerator packaged with Gorman-Rupp self priming pumps, as the Authorised Australian distributor of both USA manufacturers.
Hydro Innovations claim that by using a Venturi Aerator [VA] with a Gorman-Rupp [G-R] pump, asset owners can transfer oxygen at a cheaper rate per kW employed than other forms of aeration.
Other forms of aerator are mounted on pontoons and are tethered to banks via cables, whereas the Venturi Aerator system is mounted on lagoon banks [not in them]. This makes this style of system safer, easier and more cost effective for operators to maintain. Operators don’t have to drag floating units into banks or row out to them.
Venturi Aerators are available in 50mm, 75mm, 100mm and 150mm sizes, with fluid transfer rates from 5 L/s through to 80 L/s with a single unit.
