Having the right incoming inspection processes in place for raw materials and components will help you avoid wasting money and time on reworking, interruptions to production and scrapping material. In the long run you can avoid the cost of customer returns and potential loss of contracts, which damages both your bottom line and reputation.

Sharp ramp-ups and production re-starts are notorious for material-mix ups and wrong parts ending up in finished products. There have been many recent stories, especially with PPE equipment, where companies have had to switch suppliers on the fly to ensure they meet demand but have found that the products delivered were far from meeting specification.
