foodpro 2017 is less than a month away and anticipation is high as hundreds of exhibitors from all over the country and around the world prepare to showcase a host of exciting products, equipment, systems and technologies at the event.

This year foodpro celebrates its 50th anniversary, a significant achievement and evidence of its ongoing importance to the food processing, manufacturing and packaging industries of Australia.

foodpro continues to bring the newest concepts to the industry, and 2017 will see a number of exciting things happening at the show. One of which is the Supply Chain Integrity Zone, launched in partnership with Food Innovation Australia Limited (FIAL). FIAL will be presenting a series of seminars as part of the Zone. Session topics include: What's next in retail supply chain technology; A future lens on food manufacturing – the 5-year horizon and beyond; Future personalised food & nutrition, and Sustainable value chain of the future.

Along with the education sessions provided by FIAL, foodpro will host a series of seminars throughout the show covering a diverse range of topics.  Sessions were chosen with the intent to inform, challenge, and provide solutions to issues and developments in the industry, and all are free to attend.

Session speakers include some of the industry's best leaders and experts, such as Brett Wiskar from Wiley, Ed Milne from CozWine – Bayside Group and Glen Pinna from Biotech Laboratories. Ed Milne will be sharing on how to combat the cost of increased entry-level skill requirements in the FMCG sector, and hopes that visitors to his seminar understand that there "is no industry, region or process that has not and will not continue to be impacted by the growing skill set required for new entrants into the workplace." Sharing on how to do things differently, Ed will discuss issues and provide solutions for those in the FMCG sector.

foodpro event director Peter Petherick describes the opportunities presented through the seminars as an incredibly unique situation.

"We have some of the best in Australia's food manufacturing and processing industry gathered together in one place, and the experts are sharing vital insight that you probably aren't going to get anywhere else," he said. "I can't think of a more important place to be for anyone who wants an idea of what the future holds for the industry."

Providing even more reason to attend, foodpro is also co-locating with the Australian Institute of Food Science & Technology's (AIFST) annual convention. AIFST is hosting a full two-day program, with a line up of speakers who will share on the future of food, food safety, packaging, sensory, nutrition and more. Some keynote speakers include Barry Irvin, AM, of Bega Cheese; Professor Martin Cole of CSIRO, and Brianna Casey of Foodbank.

foodpro 2017 will undoubtedly be the most important event in the food processing industry's calendar this year, offering valuable industry insight and education opportunities that will be second-to-none.
