NSW companies seek new business opportunities in India

“The companies are part of a NSW Government trade mission to India - a country that presents many opportunities for NSW exporters,” McKay said.

“Reflecting the size and diversity of the Indian market, the NSW companies come from a broad range of sectors, including aircraft component maintenance, pilot training, timber products, television production services, information technology, architecture and design, and wine.

“India is Australia’s fastest growing major export market for both goods and services - increasing at over 30 per cent a year over the past five years.

“Despite the global economic slowdown, India has a good growth outlook.

“If a free trade agreement between Australia and India goes ahead, more
opportunities for NSW exporters should open up,” McKay said.

McKay said the NSW companies would visit Delhi and Mumbai where they
will take part in networking events and in-market briefings, and have individual
meetings with business contacts.

“The trade mission provides these companies with a good understanding of
the Indian market and an opportunity to make contact with potential
customers, distributors and agents,” said McKay.

“The mission to India is part of the NSW Government’s trade promotion
program, which helps NSW companies to grow and create jobs by winning
business overseas.

“The NSW Department of State and Regional Development organises an
annual series of trade missions and industry-specific visits to emerging and
high-potential markets.”
