It is a general purpose transducer that because of its ruggedness, environmental protection, good price, good resolution and accuracy, can be applied onto: presses, quality control machines, machine tools, measuring systems, textile machines, rubber machines, calenders, paper machines, plastic injection machines, aluminium injection machines, tiles machines, marble machines, vehicles, furnaces, steel mills, medical machines, civil engineering controls etc..
Series PCR: It is a linear displacement transducer with an aluminium extruded rule and a very good price.
Plastic slide: It is guided along the transducer by means of two slots on the top of the aluminium extruded rule and has a self-centering clamping screw that allows to recover mechanical backlashes.
Floating cursor: It is an aluminium parallelepiped that must be externally guided along the rule. The distance from the top of the rule must be costantly mantained within the tolerancies given by DS Europe (in order to mantain enough magnetic field magnitude).
Series PCR transducers are frictionless (no mechanical wear) for there is only a magnetic coupling between the magnetic cursor (ring, slide or float) and the measuring probe (the still reference): this ensure an infinite mechanical working life (unlike potentiometers where there is a really limited mechanical life).
Series PCR transducers are extremly rugged and can withstand vibrations (unlike potentiometers and optical encoders).
Series PCR has IP65 environment protection and can easily withstand water, oil, dust, moisture etc. (unlike potentiometers and optical encoders).
Series PCR are absolute transducers: switching it of and on, there is no need to do a “reset” of the machine (unlike encoders where there is an incremental counting).
Series PCR has a built-in electronics (no expensive external electronics needed, unlike potentiometers and encoders) that provides a digital RS485 output and up to two optional analog outputs at the same time: 0-10V, 10-0V, 4-20mA, 20-4mA, 0-20mA, 20-0mA.
Digital output RS485 allows to parallel connect up to 32 transducers to a single computer or PLC (master) and has a good protection against electromagnetic noise (It could, depending on the application, reach up to 500m of distance from computer to transducer).
CAN open DSP406 output is alterntive to RS485 and has the following features: electrical noise protection, high baud rate (1Mbit/sec max), one single cable connects up ot 111 nodes max., automatic error messages (=easy service), alarm levels, 3,5msec of latency time.
Series PCR has 2 LEDs on Its electronics that allows to check Its working status (Power supply, data transmission, calibration errors etc.).
Series PCR can measure up to two cursors at the same time and the two analog outputs can be linked to the cursors with many possibilities.
The zero and gain calibration can be easily done in the following ways:
Locally by means of two push buttons on the electronic card.
Remotely by means of external computer, by means of RS485 output and the digital protocol that allows a full working parameter setting. Calibration with digital output allows to have RS485 to give the output already in mechanical units (i.e. "mm").
Series PC, with Its SMD multilayer electronic card, has been EMC / CE certified in an external laboratory ("competent body") under the most severe industrial regulations for immunities and emissions.
A final test certificate is provided with each transducer thence giving all transducer working parameters.
