"We carry a significant liquor stock value and our stock take is about 4.5 hours per week. It’s very important for us to have right control systems in place. We have flow meters on bulk beers and hard wired sprits. These have helped us significantly reduce costs due to training and spillage issues. Every time someone pours a beer it tracks how much has been poured vs. the actual sales. We can drill down as look at the actual time a variance happens from incidents like spillage, poor training, honesty etc.

Hard wired ETNS have a definite 30ml pour and we can compare what’s been rung up onto the point of sale system and calculate variances. Staff know that we can track exactly what spirits are being dispensed and rung through the point of sale system.

This system probably paid for itself in nine months in terms of reduced liquor costs. The reports are very good and when you are dealing with 60000 liquor sales a week to ensure the cash variances and stock losses are kept to a minimum. All sorts of things can happen in a busy environment"
