During the first week in April, Seco began shipping the latest innovation in Point of Use Technology - The SecoPoint Single Insert Dispenser (SID).
Used in conjunction with our standard SmartDrawer cabinet, it provides a natural extension of our offering to meet the needs and requirements of our customers for tool control.
The SID is the first of its kind in the industry and provides total control of high value cutting tools by dispensing inserts one by one.
The pilot study for the SID showed that the system can reduce stock levels of inserts, as it eliminates the need to overstock.
The SID also gives an overview of the real usage of inserts, and can cut the time spent on stock handling and purchasing down to a third of what it used to be, using the automatic reordering system.
The ability to provide single inserts also has positive effects in efforts to eliminate wastage. Due to packaging and dispensing limitations, inserts are commonly used in bulk, leading to tremendous waste. This is no longer a problem when using the Single Insert Dispenser.
The SmartDrawer unit reports usage back to a central data center where the transactions are processed, providing a 100% audit trail as to who used the insert, where it was used and which cost center should be charged.
The SupplyPro Data Center provides fully automated procurement processes and integration into most customer business systems if required.
The Single Insert Dispenser is ideal for most carbide inserts used in milling, turning, threading and grooving applications. It is also highly effective at keeping track of high value CBN inserts.
Each SID unit can hold up to 20 inserts in 64 locations per drawer, providing a capacity of 1280 inserts per drawer. The SID supports the most popular SECO tool sizes: CNMG 16, DNMG 15, LCMF 16, WNMG 08, VNMG 16 and 150.10, amongst others.
