The UK is BMW’s fourth largest sales market in the world, employing 8,000 people directly and an additional 14,000 in its retailer network. A-SAFE has previously installed health and safety solutions in over 15 international countries and cities for BMW.
SITUATION
BMW’s 42,000 square metre site is the Regional Distribution depot for the group. The new facility extension required full traffic protection for racking, machinery, and?the service yard’s loading zones, ensuring minimum damage and repair costs in case of vehicle impact.
SOLUTION
A-SAFE manufactured, supplied and installed bespoke protection for each area of the facility, including Single Micro Barrier to guard vulnerable conveyer equipment from damaging traffic impacts and Column Guard to shield and defend structures.
Single Traffic+ Barrier was used to safeguard important machinery, segregate vehicle and pedestrian traffic and provide protected personnel access and?RackGuard to deflect vehicle impacts and avoid structural damage to racking. RackEnd Barriers were also fitted to shield the ends of racking aisles where turning vehicles and equipment on their vulnerable rack legs.
In the service yard, Dock Rollers were installed to prevent damage from HGV’s repeatedly loading and unloading, Truck Stops to prevent drivers backing up beyond designated stop points and Wheel Guides to lead trucks and vehicles towards loading bay doors and protect at low level.
