In both types, a piston reciprocates inside a cylinder with internal ports giving the back & forth motion without the need for special valve arrangements.
Impacting models have metal-to-metal contact at each end of the piston stroke, which can be noisy and increas stress on the hopper wall. Continuous impact models are also available with a small air cushion to limit the noise to some degree but this also limits the force output. These models can be adjusted for frequency but by their nature cannot be adjusted for amplitude.
Single impact models use a piston held against a spring by air pressure. On release of this pressure the spring impacts against a strike plate.
Pneumatic Piston Vibrators - PKL Series
Higher impact power than traditional impactors
Lower compressed air requirement per impact
Low-noise versions with elastomer insert EE
Versions with automatic control ST
ATEX or stainless steel versions available
Applications Series PKL pneumatic impactors are particularly suitable for knocking stubborn residues from walls, pipes and containers. Examples of applications include: elimination of tube-forming, bridging and evacuation of residues.
Design and Function The impact (similar to a hammer) is created by the piston. With PKL 125 to 150 the impact is produced directly against the surface upon which the impactor is mounted. From PKL 170 upwards the impact is produced against the base plate. The compressed air pushes the piston against one or two springs. The fast exhausting of the piston chamber causes the piston to strike abruptly against the impact surface.
Series PKL impactors can be operated using non-lubricated compressed air. A directional control valve is necessary for activation (not included). The maximum impact sequence is 10 impacts in a row, at a rate of 15 impacts per minute and 180 impacts per hour.
Permissible Operating Conditions Drive Medium: Compressed air or nitrogen (filter ≤ 5 μm), Preferably with oil mist
Operating Pressure: 250 kPa to 600 kPa
Ambient Temperature: – 20ºC to 60ºC
HT version up to 160ºC

Vibration Systems & Solutions | Flow Aid Solutions
For over 40 years we have supplied flow aid solutions to keep product moving from hoppers, bins and chutes. Whether pneumatic rotary, pneumatic linear or electric rotary, the right vibrators, mounted correctly, will give just the right force to move your product smoothly and effectively. Damage to bins is eliminated and a continuous flow of product is assured. Nothing is added to your product stream, as in the case with air injection devices.
Operator "damage" is eliminated with no more hammer swinging, and noise is down to acceptable levels with most vibrators, usually far lower than noise levels of other flow promoting devices.
Vibrator mounting is non-invasive and doesn't require the cutting of your bins, with the subsequent clean up costs and risk of product contamination. There is no need for installation technicians to enter the hopper. Vibrators can often, depending upon the product, be installed without any interruption to your process.
Many types of vibrators are also used as drives for vibrating feeders and vibrating tables, especially pneumatic linear models which have very good control features.
