The vane, arm and pointer turn the main spindle, which is support by two low friction stainless steel bearings. The use of Hall effect sensing elements allows a full 0 to 359.9 degree range, with much greater accuracy, sensitivity & reliability than all other sensing types.

Monitoring Wind Direction for EPA licences
Satisfying Australian Standards
The WD48 wind direction sensors are sensitive wind direction indicators which give a variable pulse rate output and a visual indication of wind direction. The aluminium wind vane is attached to an aluminium arm and adjustable stainless steel pointer. The WD48 uses Hall Effect sensing to provide very accurate wind direction readings. Moreover, as there is no potentiometer, there is no ‘gap’ in the readings at north, with a full 0 to 359.9 degree range. Accuracy combined with reliability are the key to this world class wind direction sensor.
The wind vane, arm and pointer turn the main spindle, which is supported by low friction shielded bearings.
A labyrinth machined into the spindle housing prevents the entrance of wind-borne dust or moisture into the upper bearing.
Use Environdata’s IS37 10m Instrument Mast and WS49 Wind Speed sensor in conjunction with the WD48 for a complete wind monitoring package suitable to meet EPA requirements in all states and territories of Australia (Including AM-1, AM-3, AM-4 in NSW).
This system will meet the Australian Standards and when used as part of an Environdata Weather Station (by connecting to a Weather Maestro, WeatherMate 3000 or WeatherWombat data logger) can provide you with very accurate tracking of the wind, including a sigma theta calculation from the data logger, AirData Software for calculating the net movement of the air, and WindRose for displaying a graphical summary of wind distribution over time.
Environdata Weather Stations Pty Ltd specialises in the design, manufacture and sales of automatic weather stations and their associated software and hardware. Environdata also supplies and maintains remote communications equipment for these systems, so that a complete environmental monitoring solution can be supplied.
Environdata has been operating since 1982 and has built its reputation on providing the highest level of support all its customers, for the life of their equipment. Customers are seen as long term partners, and it is this long-term commitment by Environdata that has ensured that customers return.
Environdata’s technical service department ensures that all products can be upgraded, serviced, recalibrated and repaired. Customers support services are seen as equally important, and free telephone and email support is provided for the life of the equipment.
In Australia, Environdata also provides on-site repair and re-calibration to customers on an annual basis. Once, most weather station customers would have sent their weather stations or sensors in for service. Now, Environdata operates a fully mobile on-site service unit.
