FireCrunch is an Australian NATA tested product and has total sound and acoustic resistance as a sound proof building board up to Rw 62 net 52 on 10 mm boards in double stud framing for fire separation walls.
The BCA requirement levels are met by the addition of high density acoustic insulation batts placed in the wall and ceiling cavities to the architects and or manufacturers specification. In some cases, these are fire and acoustic rated batts. These are available from several manufacturers in Australia and users should check first to verify the ability relevant to those specified Rw and other (FRL) fire resistance level requirements.
FireCrunch is highly resistant to fire (CSIRO TESTED) and will not burn in a fire storm. FireCrunch is applicable in BAL 12.5 to 40 and FZ Flame Zone regulation areas when used to protect exposed timber framing, eaves, joists etc. It is tested by the CSIRO to worst case scenario of fire storm conditions.
Meets AS/NZS 1530.1, 1530.2, 1530.3, tested AS 1530.4-2005/14, which meets 1530.8.1 & 8.2, AS/NZS 3959 BUSH FIRE AREAS TO BAL FZ and NON COMBUSTIBLE BASIC AND SMOKE TEST AS/NZS 3837.
FireCrunch is an extremely dense, hardwearing and long lasting building sheet that is resistant to permanent water damage when installed and maintained correctly. This makes it the smart choice for laundries, kitchens, bathrooms floors and decking in both domestic and commercial projects. FireCrunch is also ideal as a substrate for tiling, marble, slate or granite in wet and dry areas.
FireCrunch is 8 to 10 times stronger than plasterboard reducing loss and breakage. It is also less expensive and lighter in weight than compressed fibre cement (CFC) panels. Due to its material properties, FireCrunch does not break down or warp in water, therefore less replacement requirement after flooding... simply clean, seal and repaint.
One of the biggest issues for Australian homes is Termites. FireCrunch is made from a uniquely formulated, non-toxic fibre composite mix so is impervious to termites and insects. It totally protects expensive timber framing.
Due to the predominant chemical compound Magnesium Oxide (MgO) and Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO4) in our building boards, it eliminates mould resistance as well as mildew and moisture resistance in warm and humid conditions. FireCrunch’s Magnesium Oxide composition means those damaging and unhealthy elements can’t grow or survive on our building board.
Cement board and plasterboard manufacturing use kiln temperatures of more than 1300°C. FireCrunch is produced at temperatures around 650°C therefore producing 50% less Co2 during the manufacturing process, in carbonation. It draws back 90% of the Co2 produced and makes it a virtually carbon neutral product 5%.
General Features: NO METAL CORROSIVE MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE
Resistant to flooding and prolonged water emersion.
Fire resistant to extremely high temperatures (1200ºC). CSIRO / NATA
Meets BAL FZ and up to FRL 90/90/90 and AS 1530.4-2014 NATA
Non-combustible (AS/NZS 3837). NATA
Non-asbestos, Australian certification. NATA
Non Chloride content test NATA
Resistant to bacteria moisture, humidity, mould and mildew.
Completely resistant to termites and insects.
Low thermal conductivity ~0.44 (W/mk).
Higher R values than plasterboard.
Less expensive, eliminates multiple layers of plasterboard for high FRL.
FireCrunch building board has extensive applications in major construction for residential and commercial properties. It is also of particular interest to those renovating or repairing homes where either plasterboard gypsum style linings or other kinds of high maintenance products have been used.
