Features and benefits of SSEA Alternate Net Materials:
The materials and methods of manufacture have differing characteristics:
- Knitted nets are generally stronger for the same diameter material as the knots do weaken the knotted net and the joining knots are a potential site of a net strand failing.
- Note that the mesh size refers to the diagonal "knot to knot" dimension of the net. The square dimension is half this value.
- Recognise that the net breaking load is 'per strand' and with a net of 50mm grid there is a strand taking the load every 50mm around the perimeter of the net, therefore collectively, nets can provide significant restraint capacity.
