Cygnus Instruments Cygnus Hatch Sure ...
Seawater ingress is one of the leading causes of cargo damage during transit, leading to costly insurance claims. The Cygnus Hatch Sure provides marine surveyors, ship operators, and offshore inspectors with a fast, reliable, and clean method to verify hatch cover seals and door weather-tightness.
The system uses a battery-powered transmitter positioned inside the cargo hold. Its 19 high-output ultrasonic emitters emit an omni-directional 40 kHz sound field that fills the space. From the outside, an operator uses the lightweight receiver and flexible inspection microphone to scan along hatch seals. Any sound escaping through defective seals or gaps is instantly detected and quantified.
No Hose Testing Needed: Unlike water hose testing, ultrasonic leak detection avoids cargo damage risks, chemical runoff, and freeze issues in cold climates.
Perform Tests with Cargo Loaded: Inspections can be carried out safely with cargo already inside the hold without interrupting port or vessel operations.
Operator Safety First: The receiver features neck and waist straps for completely hands-free operation, allowing technicians to navigate ship decks and ladders safely.
Dual Value Display: Simultaneously shows the Open Hatch (OH) value and live sound level in Decibels (dB) for immediate leak evaluation.
Variable Power Output: 6 pre-set power levels allow the unit to be tuned for massive container holds down to tight spaces like bulkhead doors and small access hatches.
Flexible Inspection Probe & Extension: Comes with a telescopic extension pole and flexible microphones to inspect hard-to-reach seal sections.
Digital Calibration Controls: Fast and straightforward digital setup to maintain accurate baseline references.
Complete Kit Portability: Housed in a durable rucksack-style carry case designed for mobile surveyors on the move.
