Fireye flame scanners are designed to accurately detect the presence or absence of flame within a combustion chamber. Available with ultraviolet (UV), infrared (IR) and dual-sensor technologies, the range supports different fuels, burner configurations and single- or multi-burner applications.

Fireye integrated scanner families use microprocessor-based and solid-state sensing technologies. Selected models incorporate functions such as automatic flame characterisation, adjustable or automatically established flame thresholds, electronic self-checking and integrated flame relays, helping distinguish the target flame in demanding combustion environments. For example, Fireye Phoenix Series 2 85UVF/IRF automatically stores characteristics of the target flame during setup and selects the appropriate sensor gain.

For fuel selection, the sensing technology matters. Fireye UV1A Flame Scanners are particularly suited to gaseous fuels such as natural gas and propane and can also detect some waste gases and light oils; Fireye recommends infrared detection for fuel oil heavier than No. 2 and certain mixed-fuel applications.
