This rock drill features dual rod technology that uses an inner rod to provide torque to the drill bit, while the outer rod offers steering capability and rotational torque for reaming. The combination provides powerful downhole cutting action and the flexibility to select the appropriate tooling to best match the ground conditions, which can allow the entire install to be completed with one machine.

Specifications:

Weight: 14515 kg
Power: 104.4 kw
Rotational Torque: 5500 ft-lb
Thrust Pullback: 40000 lbs

Features:

Incorporating dependability and performance, the D40x55DR S3 Navigator® horizontal directional drill, with the latest advancements in dual rod technology, creates a familiar operator experience that will outperform many other rock drilling solutions.
The time and steps required to add or remove a rod on the D40x55DR S3 is significantly less than previous Vermeer models due to an enhanced dual drill rod design that quickly and easily makes up the inner and outer rod connections.
Install with added comfort of climate control, weatherproofing and reduced noise levels of 80 dBA at the operator’s ear, in a standard cab configuration.
Powered by a 140 hp (104 kW) John Deere diesel engine, this drill serves up 40,000 lb (177.9 kN) of thrust/pullback and 5,500 ft-lb (7,457 Nm) of rotational torque.
Install more feet and save time with an impressive 500’ (152.4 m) of drill rod on-board.
A hollow inner rod design results in more air and drilling fluid flow to the drill head on pilot bores and the hole opener during pullback, providing contractors with the ability to select from a more diverse range of tooling options, including air hammers and larger hole openers.
