It utilises the triangulated beam principle, and has a frequency response of up to 50kHz. Therefore, the sensor can be set up to measure vibration of the target or its position, displacement, or in some instances thickness. It will be available in five full scale ranges from 2mm to 100mm. The resolution of the optoNCDT 2300 sensor is from 0.1µm, and its non-linearity is from ±0.4µm.
To simplify installation and set-up, all the electronics are integrated in the compact (80mm x 75mm) housing. A new development included in the Micro-Epsilon optoNCDT 2300 is the A-RTSC (Advanced Real Time Surface Compensation)technology.
This feature, an enhancement of the Micro-Epsilon’s existing RTSC technology, combined with the relatively 50kHz frequency response enables the optoNCDT 2300 to achieve the above specified precision and reliability. The output signal also remains precise when the optoNCDT 2300 is focussed on rough and irregular surfaced materials because of the 50kHz frequency response.
When applied to transparent materials, the sensor can be set up to measure the thickness of the target material, instead of the displacement or position without a second opposing sensor. The optoNCDT 2300 does this by recording and comparing the reflections from both surfaces of the transparent material.
Data output is via Ethernet, RS422 or EtherCAT. The sensor is configured by the user via Micro-Epsilon software.
