Belt conveyors that carry sticky and extremely adherent materials represent a special challenge with regard to belt cleaning. Many types of material tend to stick to the belt after the discharge point and leave a carryback layer on the belt surface, which can reach several centimeters in some cases. Under such working conditions, it is necessary to use a pre-cleaning system in conjunction with a main scraper.

The HD-PU-L scraper is the classic sickle-shaped pre-scraper installed on the discharge pulley to reduce the thickness of the material sticking to the belt surface. In light and medium applications, this cost-effective pre-scraper contributes to reduce the load on the main scraper. Working on the 3 o’clock position on the head pulley, the removed material is deflected into the chute and re-directed into the main flow of material.

The assembly carrier is a one-piece design and the scraper is fitted with a unilateral tensioning unit. The preset tensioning unit makes it particularly easy to pre-tension the scraper. For that, one only needs to release the spring lock at the tensioning unit. No further
adjustment of the spring tension is necessary. The elastic properties of polyurethane allow the cleaning blocks to lift up or deflect on contact with irregularities on the belt surface, such as mechanical splices for example, which in turn guarantees high belt safety.
