Infrared sorter for almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans and pine nuts that separates shell from kernel even when they're the same colour, and removes mouldy nuts and foreign matter. Supplied, installed and supported in Australia by Allegiant.

What it removes

Shells and shell fragments, including pieces the same colour as the kernel
Damaged and shrivelled kernels
Mouldy and discoloured product

Key features

InGaAs infrared detection – reads differences in composition and density, not just colour, so shell can be separated from kernel where a colour sorter would struggle.
Vacuum extraction – upper and front vacuum systems draw off dust and light fractions.
Streamlined electrics – Meyer states the design uses 45% fewer control modules.
Chute sorter in three widths (120CI2, 240CI2, 360CI2) to suit different throughputs.
AI defect recognition – deep-learning software classifies each particle by colour and shape against a library of product models; Meyer states defects down to 1–2 pixels can be picked up.
High-speed imaging – Meyer quotes 50,000 scans per second and detection of objects as small as 0.0025 mm².
Maglev 3.0 ejectors – non-contact air ejectors rated by Meyer at over 1,200 Hz, designed to reject only what needs rejecting and keep good-product loss down.
Sniper System – 3D reconstruction locates the centre of a contaminant so the air blast is aimed precisely.
Remote support – remote monitoring, start-up, settings backup and diagnostics.
Simple operator interface, with operator training provided.
